District Nurses

District nurses are one of the many different types of nurses who manage care within the community, rather than in a hospital or private clinic. They visit patients in their homes and provide the necessary advice and care regarding wound management, continence care, catheter care and palliative care amongst others.

Hospital midwives are midwives who are based in a hospital obstetric, or consultant unit, a birth centre or midwife led unit, and they staff the antenatal clinic, labour ward, and postnatal wards. Community midwives also provide postnatal care for women who have been looked after during labour by hospital midwives. You will receive care from both during your pregnancy.

New Patients

All newly registered patients will be asked to complete a questionnaire and have a consultation with the practice nurse within one month of registering. Medical treatment is available from the date of registration. Please note that a new patient check must be carried out failure to attend your new patient check may result in you being removed from the practice list

All of the doctors are available to give advice on family planning, including oral contraception and the morning after pill. The referrals for fitting of coils, sterilization and terminations can also be arranged. Please make an appointment in the usual way.

We provide weekly Childhood Immunisation Clinics on each of our sites. You will receive your child’s appointments from the Central Child Health Department detailing a date and time for your child to attend.
